I will display my splendor

Night before last I spent quite a bit of time polishing the brass kick plate from our front door.  When I began, the rectangular piece of metal was dark with tarnish.  After an hour of  rubbing and power buffing with brasso it shined brilliantly.  I could see my face as in a mirror.  It reminded me that through trials and growth experiences the Lord is polishing us, so that ultimately He can see His own image in us.

  Isaiah 49
The Servant of the LORD
 1 Listen to me, you islands;
       hear this, you distant nations:
       Before I was born the LORD called me;
       from my birth he has made mention of my name.
 2 He made my mouth like a sharpened sword,
       in the shadow of his hand he hid me;
       he made me into a polished arrow
       and concealed me in his quiver.
 3 He said to me, "You are my servant,
       Israel, in whom I will display my splendor."

blessings,

  1. Great picture, brought to mind this passage.

    2 Corinthians 3:18
    And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

  2. Thanks, Jon
    This is a better reference than the one I found to capture the thought.
