precious stones

1 Peter 2:4 As you come to him, the living Stone-rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him-you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
God is the ultimate mineral expert. He fashions the diamonds and rubies and sapphires that eventually are cut and fastened to gold and silver chains to ultimately adorn and enhance beauty. He also makes huge boulders like the Humpback Rocks on the Blue Ridge Parkway that seem to preside over the towering ridge like a judge in session. He also makes the pebbles that are smoothed in the bottom of streams and the rocks that are pulled from the earth to permit a field to be plowed and a building to be fashioned. Some rock is chiseled and set into monuments to remember great men and women. Jesus, Himself, is a Stone...a cornerstone of Heaven. And as each of us trusts in Him, we also rest on that cornerstone and we form walls, and we form a building, and we become a city of stones that are also living...like jewels made from pebbles smoothed by His stream of care...content to be in the shadow of the rock, who is also the great judge. So we adorn Him!
