freedom

Psalm 2:1 Why are the nations in an uproar
And the peoples devising a vain thing?

The second psalm asks the question...given the reality of an all powerful God, who reigns with His Son over the universe...where does man come off thinking that he can go any direction he wants...including a path that is in direct opposition to God?  I think the answer is in one word:  freedom!  God built freedom into our experience from day one.  We have never been forced to follow or obey Him even from the time of Adam.  And we are free to set our own course even now.  But God has apparently given us this freedom that we might discover the benefit that comes from freely choosing to bow before Him.  Later in the same psalm we find the best choice is found in attitudes that reflect worship, reverence and homage to the Father and the Son (how interesting that the Son is discussed in this Old Testament book).  I especially like the phrase found in verse 11 "And rejoice with trembling".  With this attitude in mind and heart we will find true freedom!
