My brother, the super hero

Hebrews 2:11 So now Jesus and the ones he makes holy have the same Father. That is why Jesus is not ashamed to call them his brothers and sisters. 12 For he said to God,
"I will proclaim your name to my brothers and sisters.
I will praise you among your assembled people."

Super heroes are appealing and wonderful because they have powers that are greater than mere mortals.  They are also appealing because they are focused on doing what is right and true.  But they are especially appealing because we can personally relate to them.  Jesus makes it clear that there are people who have become, and are still becoming, His brothers and sisters.  Through our super brother, Jesus, we can be restored to the Father we have in common...the God of Heaven.

And here is why Jesus came down from Heaven to earth:  Hebrews 2:14 Because God's children are human beings—made of flesh and blood—the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had the power of death. 15 Only in this way could he set free all who have lived their lives as slaves to the fear of dying.

It was all part of God's great rescue!  Jesus has become the connecting path for his brothers and sisters on earth to find their way back to their Father!

blessing,
Rob Smith
