love, actually

We learn from the letter of 1 John that love is what we have experienced as God has sent His Son to die in our place,  and love is what we experience daily from Him from His Spirit that indwells.  We know that this is a family love and that we are His children.  We also learn that love is what is missing in the attitude others have toward us...others who have not grasped and embraced this Heaven-sent love.  In fact, those who have not yet found salvation may show the opposite of love, just as Cain did toward Abel.  But then we also learn that love is not just the indication of a saving relationship with God, it is also the prescription to reach the very ones who do not love us.  We must love one another, believers and unbelievers, because this is the best reflection of the presence of the living God and the most effective way to win those who love us least (and have yet to find the great love from the Father and Son).

1 John 3:18,19a
Dear children, let's not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.  Our actions will show that we belong to the truth

love and blessings,
Rob Smith
