fantasy and reality

fan·ta·sy

2.
the forming of mental images, especially wondrous or strange fancies; imaginative conceptualizing.

My grandson, Peter, is staying with us today.  We're playing some kind of Ninja / Knight battle right now with Lego's.  I love how Peter's view of reality is closely interwoven with his view of fantasy.  A child's mind embraces the possibilities that his imagination conceives.  It seems that later on we shun fantasy to embrace our view of reality.  But, just maybe, the child's approach to fantasy and reality is healthier.  We tend to narrow down our acceptable range of possibilities as adults and it may be that the greatest truths and most wonderful insights and experiences have become excluded from our sense of reality.  Certainly this can include the spiritual truths that the Lord has for us.  Most of these truths have their roots beyond the five senses in a spiritual realm.   Perhaps we can learn something from the fantasy and reality mix of children!

Psalm 71:19
Your righteousness, O God, reaches to the highest heavens.
You have done such wonderful things.
Who can compare with you, O God?

blessings,
Rob Smith
