Subject: love eternally, live eternally
1 Peter 1:22 "Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart, 23 since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God;"
When we have been born again through faith in Christ we are set free from a life that is limited. Instantaneously, when we become new creatures in Christ, our horizon lifts from our limited time on this planet to "forever". This changes our perspective on behavior. If we are confident that nothing can block our eternal life then we have overcome our greatest fear and are set free. We are set free 'to love'. Genuine care and concern for others is now the fruit of freedom from fear. We no longer need to make ourselves the center.
And such love communicates the reality of God living within us...and God eager to live in others.
As Peter puts it in1 Peter 1:8 "Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, 9 obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls."
