Fw: Commanded to love

Deuteronomy 6:You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.
-
You don't typically associate the idea of "love" with a command.  We think of love as a warm and tender feeling that just happens.  But the Lord made it clear to the people of Israel that loving Him was not just a good idea...it was the most essential thing.
-
And it wasn't to be a part time thing, when the urge hit.  It was necessary that this love be a 100% kind of love: His AAA club was defined by "all your heart...all your soul...all your might".
-
I think we can categorize and compartmentalize God.  We can choose to love him when circumstances are tough and we need help.  We can love Him when surrounded by others in worship and it just feels right.  But the discipline to start the day with loving Him...walk through the day by coming back again and again to Him...finish the day choosing to think on Him...the AAA kind of love for God calls for all that we are and across all of our day.
-
Because He never stops thinking of you and me!  And He never stops loving us!
-
blessings,

Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live."
