Yesterday was the last day of the old year. My wife and I had some time off together and, after taking care of some chores around the house, we decided to take in a movie. Shirley flashed a few $10 rebate checks that had come in the mail and we decided to cash them in to pay for our movie. On the way to the bank she found another check! Just like that our afternoon of entertainment, including a bite to eat, was taken care of. As we pulled up to the busy theater, with its parking lot packed, a car pulled out leaving a space near the theater just as we approached. Then I suddenly recalled that I had a coupon for a free popcorn and drink at the theater. It just seemed like everything came together for a special time out. I thought about my Navy days when we were boosted by the Gulf Stream current and our ancient World War II ship beat our schedule up the coast. We truly had "fair winds and following seas". That's what yesterday felt like. Life isn't like this for us every day but I remembered that the fair winds of God's precious Holy Spirit and the following seas of God's eternal plan for our lives are lifting and carrying us to a sure destiny that will far surpass the best of our days here.
Isaiah 40:11 He will feed his flock like a shepherd.
He will carry the lambs in his arms, holding them close to his heart.
He will gently lead the mother sheep with their young.
blessings (more than a New Year, it can be a New Day for you!),
Rob Smith
