Declare

Declare: from L. declarare "make clear, reveal, disclose, announce," from de- intensive prefix (see de-) + clarare "clarify," from clarus "clear"

To declare seems to accomplish two purposes: to clarify and to announce.  Even God makes a declaration with every day...every sunrise, all of nature.  He is making it clear that we live in a world that He made and this is announced in every created thing from amoeba and atom to atmosphere and elephant.   We are called to also make a declaration in response: that our trust is in God and our faith has been individually placed in the saving work of Jesus on the Cross.  I think that something is "fixed" or established within us as we clarify our faith by announcing it.  This may well have been an important part of the new believer's baptism.  It is a public announcement that makes a clear statement of allegiance to the One who has been found by faith.  As we have opportunity, in appropriate settings, to speak out our faith and identify with the One who has saved us we declare that we are His.  Perhaps this announcement makes it clear to ourselves, within, as much as to others around.  Something is established in this "Declaration of Dependence" that is more liberating even than America's "Declaration of Independence".

Job 22:²⁸ You will also declare a thing,

      And it will be established for you; 
      So light will shine on your ways.
