1 John 4:9,10 God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love--not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.
Freely received and freely given,
this love that has come down.
We'd not have known what love could mean
Without your love...now found...
Love received can then be given
the way you give to us.
Not earned, not kept, not worthy even...
We love as you love us.
Your kiss, your touch, your warm embrace
does not exclude from trial,
But you have stood strong in our place,
that we might know your smile.
