Are we on the road or are we in a rut? The picture this morning shows that someone must have thought he had a better way than the road...or, or a more entertaining way, and so he swung off the hard packed surface and dug deep into the muck off to the side. Roads can be great if we let them take us to their destination. Sometimes we mindlessly follow the path and find it stimulating to break from the confines of the well worn path. The driver in this picture hedged his bets and allowed one side of his vehicle to keep traction while the other chewed down into the soft marsh. Sometimes we almost want to get in trouble...get a little stuck...to add a dose of adventure to our paths. Roads and ruts...we need both...but we need a balance to keep on course. But it is good to know the limits of our vehicle and the limits of safety when we leave the road.
