Fw: Lasting peace

Psalm 46:

9 He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
    he breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
    he burns the chariots with fire.
10 "Be still, and know that I am God.
    I will be exalted among the nations,
    I will be exalted in the earth!"

It can appear that men are running the show when it comes to nations and conflicts and power and wars.  There is, rightfully, much concern over the potential use of massive weapons that one country might launch against another.  And history is a repetition of war and peace and the rising and falling of empires and nations.

It is good to be reminded that God is greater than man and his conflicts, schemes and weapons.  It is good to be reminded that real and lasting peace is defined as peace with God.  Ultimately, He will cause the final end to war and He will squash the weapons of mass destruction.  And rather than one nation being lifted against another...or even all nations trying to find peace on their own...He is the one who will be lifted up.

For true and lasting peace, it is necessary to "be still, and know"...that God is and that He "will be exalted among the nations"!
