Subject: One path
John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

Jesus has been telling the disciples that He's about to go away...but His purpose in leaving includes preparing a place for them and a promise that He'll come back and bring them to that place. Thomas is skeptical because He doesn't understand everything and he wants to be clear on all the details before He can accept what Jesus is saying.

Jesus replies in the verse above that believing...trusting... in Him is the one "detail" that Thomas needs to understand and believe. There was much that would have been impossible for the disciples to visualize or understand about Heaven, just as we are not ready or able to comprehend all that lies ahead of us. But if we will trust Jesus, who has pioneered the path for us and knows the way, we reach the best destination of all...we find life and truth and assurance that we have made it home forever.

Truth, life and the way. Aren't these what we all are looking for (certainly what we all need)? When you are looking for the greatest treasure of all it isn't surprising that there is but one way!

blessings,
