Fw: freed to be transformed

2 Corinthians 3:17 "Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit."
-
Freedom is cherished in our country.  The context for that deep appreciation was found at the beginning of our history, when we were oppressed by a king who controlled us from the other side of an ocean.  We didn't need or want his rule and, for over 150 years had enjoyed relative freedom, until we started becoming our own economic engine and he decided to tap that growth through taxation.  So we fought a war to achieve "freedom" from that king.
-
But "freedom from" is not the same as "freedom for".  The Declaration of Independence was our "freedom from" document and the Constitution became our "freedom for" document.
-
As believers in Jesus..those who have put our hands on the blood soaked cross and realized it was needed for us, personally....we have been granted both "freedom from" and "freedom for".  Just as the Cross is our "freedom from" document, the living Spirit of God is now our "freedom for" document.  We have been made free from our sin in order to be made like Him...He intends to transform us, step by step, as we fix our eyes upon Him.
-
Just as the Cross paved the way for a great Resurrection, so does our faith in the work on the Cross pave the way for personal Transformation, "from one degree of glory to another".
-
After we've fixed our eyes on the Cross and bowed in repentance and acceptance, let us fix our eyes, our minds and our hearts on the Resurrected One!
-
blessings,
Rob Smith

John 11:25
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live."
