Fw: bad choice for enemies

83 O God, do not keep silence;
    do not hold your peace or be still, O God!
2 For behold, your enemies make an uproar;
    those who hate you have raised their heads.
3 They lay crafty plans against your people;
    they consult together against your treasured ones.
4 They say, "Come, let us wipe them out as a nation;
    let the name of Israel be remembered no more!"

You can still see the enemies of God trying to wipe out the nation of Israel.  They've been trying for a long time.  But they make a poor choice to become an enemy of God.  He is the father of the nation of Israel.  He also is the father of the church...the collection of people who have personally trusted in Jesus for salvation.  Not a good idea to make God your enemy.  It reminds me of a small child thumbing his nose at his father over the father's instructions or direction.  In power, wisdom, size, authority...just about every way you can think of...the only thing the child has going for him is angry arrogance.  And, just as the child has forgotten that his father was his source of life...so the enemies of God forget that they would not have experienced life apart from the God they have chosen to oppose.

If we need to choose our friends carefully, we must be all the more careful about who we make enemies of!
