Fw: point of view

"It's all in your point of view."

As we look out at all the churches that name Jesus Christ as Lord, even within our own communities, we see a number of separate worship families.  From our human point of view we may not feel close, or related in any way, to these other faith bodies.  When we are looking for a church we visit and compare and pick one that seems best for us.  But we still may see the separate churches as truly distinct from one another.  But it is different from God's point of view.  From His perspective, there is one body on earth that represents and carries out the purposes of His Son.

Consider Ephesians 4:1-5 "I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.  There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call— one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all."

Perhaps, if we can begin to see ourselves, believers in Jesus, as one body...His body...we can become more effective working and living and sharing faith with a fractured culture that is detached from that body.  Perhaps we can leave our "comfort zones" and build the network of friendship with other church families in the community with the common cause of impacting that community (so that community might truly become 'common unity' as the name implies).

much love,

John 11:25
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live."
