Fw: The true Crown

1650s, "a crown," from Latin corona "a crown, a garland," in ancient Rome especially "a crown or garland bestowed for distinguished military service,"

With many extended senses in botany, anatomy, etc. A coronavirus (by 1969) is so called for the spikes that protrude from its membranes and resemble the tines of a crown or the corona of the sun.

-
Psalm 21:3
For you meet him with rich blessings;
you set a crown of fine gold upon his head.
He asked life of you; you gave it to him,
length of days forever and ever.
-
John 19:And the soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head and arrayed him in a purple robe.
-
The crown has been a symbol of headship, of kingship, since early history.  The physical crown, placed on the head of a monarch distinguishes their head from every other and represents their rule.  In a twisted way, the coronavirus literally means "the poisonous crown".  And for a time this crown of poison seems to be wielding its cruel scepter over mankind.
-
But there is one who wields a greater power.  He blesses human kings and all who bow before Him with eternal life.  Consider this description of Jesus from the book of Revelation:
-
Revelation 19:13 He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God. 14 And the armies of heaven, arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses. 15 From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. 16 On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.
-
It may appear that this coronavirus rules the earth at the moment but, just like a winter flu, its time will pass.  But there is a king with a righteous Crown who will vanquish evil and disease and rule forever in Heaven.  This is the King we must bow before, not to become sick....but to become eternally well.
-
blessings,
Rob Smith

John 11:25
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live."
