guide for husbands

Ephesians 5:25 "Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, 26 that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, 27 so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish."
-
How should a husband love his wife? As Christ loved the church.
-
The distinct role of the husband in a Christian marriage is to give himself up for his wife, as Christ laid down His life for the church.  Christ did this so that we, in the church, would be cleansed by His word and made presentable, in holiness and completeness.
-
As husbands I believe we should desire the same...that our wives would reach their full potential in the Lord.  How can we do that?  I think the answer is in verse 28 of the same chapter: "In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself."
-
How should a husband love his wife?  As he loves himself.
-
This kind of love is a witness of Christ to the world, for all to see.  Marriage is a human picture of the spiritual bond the church has with Christ.
-
Ephesians 5:31 "Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh." 32 This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church.
-
If a husband wants to know how to love his wife, the example is Christ's love for the church and his love for himself.  That is because when Christ loves the church, He is expressing love for His own body.
-
Ephesians 5:29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, 30 because we are members of his body.

"Death is inevitable.  Life is a choice!"

John 11:25
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live."
