Subject: higher vision
Hebrews 12:22 But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable angels in festal gathering,23 and to the assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, 24 and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.

From the mundane to the miraculous...that is the wonder of being a Christian. Although we still walk with feet touching the earth our hearts and our eternal soul belong to Heaven. It is good to be reminded of the eternal dimension of life that we have already transitioned to spiritually. We need a higher vision of life to motivate us in our disciplined pursuit of God, day by day. And so the author of the book of Hebrews instructs us that when we come to the Lord in prayer and when we come to Him with our questions and when we come to partake of his Word and when we go to comfort and go to share His reality and go to encourage others in their walk...we're really going to Mount Zion...to Jerusalem...to the midst of angels...to the assembly of other believers who have gone before us and especially we go to Jesus who has made our entrance to Heaven possible.

It's not about escape...it's about transcending. It reminds me of the time I was given a ride in a small plane over Williamsburg. Seeing the beauty of the water and the woods and the location of neighborhoods from the air helped me picture where I lived much more clearly and feel like I belonged to this beautiful place even more than before.
