Romans 14:7 For none of us lives to himself, and no one dies to himself. 8 For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord's. 9 For to this end Christ died and rose and lived again, that He might be Lord of both the dead and the living.

The reality is that we had nothing to do with having a life. Life is a gift and we do not own our lives...you might say we are on loan. As the passage above states, whether we live or die we belong to the Lord. What do we really own? What will truly last? When all is said and done, whose words and whose actions are most enduring?
-
Here, in this gift of life...this experience of flesh on this planet of rock...we have the choice of acknowledging that our temporary lives here were intended to become eternal lives that only have their start here. One thing to own: an unbreakable bond with the Lord of all.
