Today I was learning about indoor rock climbing from my daughter, Courtney. She and my youngest daughter, Bethany, went to a place Saturday that simulates vertical cliffs, with numerous hand and footholds built in. Before they could scale the wall they went through "basic training" to learn how to do it safely. One key lesson was how to tie the knot that connects the climbing rope to your harness. This rope is a safety line that holds you in case you slip. The instructor ran through the knot tying lesson a little too quickly for Courtney. She realized that her complete trust was going to be placed on that knot, so she asked for a careful review of the procedure before moving on. It made me think that many of us don't have a secure "knot" to trust in when it comes to life. We may want to review the steps to ensure we're tied snugly to Jesus. We're bound to fall from time to time.
Jude 1:24 To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy—
blessings,
Rob Smith
