The Lord could have made His presence as obvious to us on earth as it is in Heaven. Jesus could have commanded a following when He walked the earth and who would not have bowed. Ever since the Garden of Eden failures of Adam and Eve, our awareness of the Lord has been wrapped in a mist and shrouded with a curtain. Although the Lord made all that we see, gave each of us life, and meets our every need...it still takes the wonder of faith to be reconnected with Him. I think the Lord wanted it this way all along. He'd rather have us "prefer Him" when He's not the only choice for our affection. He offers truth, wisdom, joy and many other deep satisfactions of the heart if we will choose Him over every other competitor for our heart. Day by day we face the choice: "Will I prefer HIm?"
1 Corinthians 4:20 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power. 21 What do you prefer? Shall I come to you with a whip, or in love and with a gentle spirit?
blessings,
Rob Smith
