No matter how old you are, you are still growing. I remember hearing years ago that some parts of our body keep growing throughout life...like our ears and our noses (made of cartilage rather than bone). We may like to think that we have matured in adulthood, but can any of us really believe that we have completed our development. I am always impressed when I see older believers involved with Bible study and intently participating in Adult Sunday School. It almost seems as though the really mature folks have realized just how little they really understand about life, truth and meaning. At some point, we understand that we were formed for much more than survival, or even success and prosperity. We are learning, growing and developing throughout our lives. In a sense this life is about getting acquainted with our Maker and finding out that He fashioned us for an eternal relationship that only has its beginnings on this side of physical death. It seems that the greatest truths are also the greatest mysteries. I suppose faith has something to do with trusting the truth even before we have solved the mysteries. I think it adds to the adventure of living to remember that we are all in a constant "process of becoming". Proverbs 9:9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; Teach a just man, and he will increase in learning. blessings, Rob Smith |
