Yesterday I discussed the advantage of "whole hearted" following of the Lord rather than "leveraging" small amounts of our time, talent and treasure in hopes of a complete relationship. Today it occurred to me that a better concept than "leveraging" is "multiplying" when it comes to our walk with the Lord. Just as Jesus multiplied the bread and fishes and fed several thousand, so our Lord can multiply our lives into greater usefulness for Him than they could ever be, standing in our solitary strength. I think we need to have a similar attitude to the boy of John chapter 6 who allowed his lunch to be used by Jesus. There never seemed to be a concern that the boy's lunch would disappear or that the boy wouldn't eat. And I don't think the boy kept a spare fish or crust of bread in is pocket. Perhaps we can infer that when we completely yield our lives, the Lord can multiply Himself in amazing ways to satisfy the needs of others. Perhaps this is part of what He meant when we were told that we must lose our lives in order to find them. John 6:9 "There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two small fish, but what are they among so many?" 10 Then Jesus said, "Make the people sit down." Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. 11 And Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks He distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples to those sitting down; and likewise of the fish, as much as they wanted. Matthew 10:39 He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it. blessings, Rob Smith |
