Romans 10:3 For, being ignorant of the righteousness of God, and seeking to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness.

In the previous chapter (chapter 9) of Romans and the first verses of chapter 10 Paul expresses his desire for Israel to come to faith. He explains that being a physical descendant of Abraham is not the same as being a spiritual descendant. The spiritual descendants are those who have the same kind of faith as Abraham...faith that has come to depend in the one true God. These descendants of faith, Paul states, are both Jew and Gentile. The quote, above, from Romans 10 says a lot about all who have not come to depend upon God. Instead of bowing before the only one who is right and can make us right they "seek to establish their own righteousness".

I'm challenged and reminded that each day I need to "submit to God's righteousness". As a believer in Jesus I have come to experience the freedom from sin's weight that only He can lift. Now I need to walk with Him on a daily basis and maintain that posture of submission. And we think of those who truly are "ignorant of the righteousness of God". How will they come to know if they aren't told...How will they believe if they don't see what faith looks like when lived out by others?

blessings this day!
