Mark 9:2 And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James and John, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before them, 3 and his clothes became radiant, intensely white, as no one on earth could bleach them. 4 And there appeared to them Elijah with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus.

Jesus told the disciples that some of them would see the kingdom of God...and in the very next verses in the book of Mark we learn that Jesus took Peter, James and John up a high mountain. There the appearance of Jesus was dramatically changed and He almost glowed...his clothing was an intense white. We then read 14 amazing words in verse 4: And there appeared to them Elijah with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus.

Moses had died before Israel entered the promised land about 1400 years earlier and Elijah had been "caught up" into heaven several hundred years after that. And they showed that there truly is life after this life when they appeared to Jesus, Peter, James and John. Moreover, it appears that Elijah and Moses had important messages, and possibly responsibilities, in Heaven.

We, too, will live in Heaven if we have trusted in the work of Christ on the Cross. And it appears that we will keep our identities and very possibly have important things to do!
