Mark 8: 37 For what can a man give in return for his soul? 38 For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the Son of Man also be ashamed when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels."

Jesus has been challenging his disciples and other followers to leave everything and follow him. Consider these words: Mark 8:35 For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel's will save it. 36 For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?
-
Think about all the things a person can buy...think of all the biggest, most expensive things the wealthiest person in the world can purchase...no matter how much money anyone has, they can't buy their own soul. The domain of the soul is entirely separate from the markets and money of men.
-
We have to leave the primary pursuit of man's wealth behind and pursue the one who is named "Savior" to see our temporary dwelling here redeemed for an eternity of life. And notice that we can check our attitude about Jesus by examining our willingness to identify with both Him and His words as we live out our lives in the midst of others.
-
The exchange for our souls has been made by the One who challenges us to follow Him through the door of life.
