Friendship and Fellowship

1 John 1:3 that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.
-
John 15:15 No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.
-
Friendship and Fellowship
-
These are two great experiences and relationships.

The dictionary tells us that a friend is: "a person whom one knows and with whom one has a bond of mutual affection"
-
So how is that different from 'fellowship'?  The dictionary suggests that fellowship happens when friends come together over shared interests.
-
Perhaps one of the most amazing realities of becoming a Christian is that we now are friends with God and can come together with other friends of God to share His presence...together!
-
As enjoyable as it is for friends to come together over shared interests, like book clubs, hunting, fishing, sports or games.....there is just no comparison with friends coming together, when those friends include the Father, Son and Holy Ghost.  It is wonderful that we can fellowship with the Lord, even by ourselves.
-
But it is a powerful joy when we gather as part of His Church to intentionally share His presence.  He is our eternal Friend.  What greater can be shared?  Here's what Jesus says about this:
-
Matthew 18:20 "For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them."

"Death is inevitable.  Life is a choice!"

John 11:25
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live."
