In the line of Christ

Matthew 1:1-2,16
"The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. Abraham was the father of Isaac, and Isaac the father of Jacob, and Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers,.........16 and Jacob the father of Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom Jesus was born, who is called Christ."
-
Forty-two generations link Abraham to Jesus Christ in the intervening verses.
-
The Gospel of Matthew starts with the genealogy of Jesus...starting with Abraham...flowing down through time to David and moving through the blood line to Joseph and to the birth of the Son of God.
-
And then the genealogy stops.  Jesus doesn't have sons or daughters.  He doesn't marry.  The line appears to end with Jesus.
But let's rethink that:
Galatians 3:Know then that it is those of faith who are the sons of Abraham. And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, "In you shall all the nations be blessed."
-
The natural line that links father to son from Abraham to Jesus ends with Jesus (though Abraham has many descendants through others to this very day, and there is much purpose there).  But though Jesus did not have natural children, those of us who have been born anew have been placed in His lineage.
-
His line doesn't stop in Matthew 1:16.  You can write your name in as a direct descendant by faith if you have placed your trust in Jesus as your only hope, your savior.
-
1 John 5:1 "Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of him. "
-
The children of faith are the unwritten heirs that continue the lineage of Jesus and complete the family of God.
-
blessings!
