who makes the rules?

2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
-
Matthew 16:26 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul? 27 For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done.
-
Having just watched the Super Bowl we were aware that penalties play a major part of the game.  A pass interference here...an off sides there can make the difference in a game.  Other rules of the game are crucial also...did the ball cross the plane of the end zone?  Did the receiver get two feet in before going out of bounds?  Did the ball get hiked before the play clock hit zero?
-
You have to have rules and you have to have referees to enforce them....and you need to respect the referees as a neutral third party.  Without rules and objective enforcement you would have chaos because the desire of each team to win could turn such a high stakes game into a brawl.  Even in the Super Bowl you could see emotions were running high and frequently the officials, or other players, had to step between players who were close to a fight.
-
So who makes the rules for life....and who enforces them?
-
The scriptures above tell us that God writes the rules and also will enforce them.  And we all break the rules:
Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God....and look at this:
Hebrews 9:27 And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment
-
So, is there any hope?   Yes!
Romans 10:because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
-
The rule-maker has made a way, despite our constant 'rule breaking' to be forgiven.  And Jesus is that way.
John 14:Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
-
Football players need to respect the officials.  We must bow and admit our sins before the One who rules all and walk the way to salvation to win the game of life.

"Death is inevitable.  Life is a choice!"

John 11:25
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live."
